I feel you
even though you are not here
you are standing right behind me
looking over my shoulder, leaning
your chin against my left cheek
watching
my writing
on the screen
and the two little grey and white spotted Tamil Nadu owls
sitting on neighbouring branches on the tree
right outside the window
I feel you
breathing
Your chest, and your breast
pressing softly against my left shoulderblade
I feel you
although you are not there
and should I turn around and look at you
I would stare down the wishing well of my very conscious
unconscious desire
Some people say poets are not romantic at heart
I find that not to be true
Because you are always with me
I do not turn around
to look
down the hollow black mirror
I much prefer your eyes
so blue
